Vegas Movie Studio 13 Platinum crashes upon importing of large file

I've been working with Vegas for awhile and I cant seem to import large files without it crashing. Small clips less than 30 minutes are fine but anything above an hour causes it to stop responding. The file format I use in this case is MP4.

Specs
Intel Pentium G4560 3.5 GHz
12GB DDR4 RAM
GTX 750 TI

I'm currently having this same problem. This didn't occur until I tried it today, round about the same time you made this post. Didn't Movie Studio have a recent software upgrade this week?

Yes VMS17 had an update but Justin is using MS13.

@Justin-Fredericks That was quick. One possible problem, made worse by the time length, is that the frame rate is variable and it varies a lot.

VMS and most video editors don't like VFR as they work on fixed framerates. The usual recommendation is to convert the file to CFR using Handbrake (a free download). Then use the Handbrake mp4 file in VMS.

Well it worked, but i think handbrake lowered the resolution but changing to CFR did fix it. Thanks!
