Vegas Pro 14 (Steam Edition) won't start up.

Callum-McEachern wrote on 10/25/2020, 2:31 PM

I bought Vegas Pro 14 (Steam Edition) not too long ago and it was working for a while until one day I tried to start it up and it froze while loading, closed and gave me very little to no information about the problem. Each time I try to open it, I get the same problem. I think it's having some sort of trouble accessing a plugin or directory because I've tried uninstalling and re-installing it several times now to no avail.

To be specific, it keeps freezing and crashing about halfway through loading when it tries to load "aswRawFS64.dll". Then it comes up with this.

The extra info given is as follows.

@Callum-McEachern

Find and rename the .dll file, or uninstall AVAST software.

AVAST has been busted for stealing your data iirc, so I would opt for the latter option.

@Gordon-Clement

You don't have Vegas 14 and you don't have Steam, so why would you post here?

Please start your own thread with your own unique problem details, thanks.

sorry... i will flog myself for the disruption at my earliest convenience 😊... oh, and I do have STEAM why would you just assume I didn't?

I don't think Humble Bundle offered a steam edition, did they?

Hi thanks for responding! I can definitely try renaming the .DLL file. However, I've never had avast on this computer and still currently don't and I'm not quite sure what that has to do with my problem.. The digital audio workshop or DAW (FL Studio) is the most recent installation but other than that nothing else has been installed.

Even though it relates to MovieStudio, the 'grovel' problem has been addressed in:

https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/movie-studio-13-error-unmanaged-exception-0xc0000005--124627/

Look at the last comment and follow its last link to about how to delete the cache.

BTW, 'aswRawFS64.dll' does look like it is an AVAST program. So make sure that your computer via Apps and Features doesn't have even a trial version of AVAST in the background.

Thanks for your help! However, it doesn't seem to have done anything. I've successfully reset the cache but when it tried to start up, it came up with the same problem. I also checked and there's no trace of Avast anywhere on my computer.

The internet says this about your .dll

https://www.freefixer.com/library/file/aswRawFS64.dll-76241/

I have no knowledge of what is, was, or will be on your computer.
