Vegas Pro 15 locking up and/or stalling during play &rendering process

Duvale-Murchison wrote on 9/16/2022, 8:31 AM

The file I've been working on has been working fine, until, I added new files. Whenever I attempt to play any videos on the timeline, the software stalls and locks. When I attempt to render the videos (less than 2 minutes) the rendering time exceeds 2 or 3 hours and stops at 3%. ????

Here's a look at what I see.

I am rendering to an external hard drive with 5TB of space available. One file locks at 3% when rendering and another locks at 27%. Thank you for replying.

Untill now no idea what the reason could be.
We need more information as MediaInfo of the sourcefiles exactly given as asked in this link part 1: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

Where is your Temp folder pointing? And does it have enough space?

Duvale-Murchison wrote on 9/17/2022, 2:42 PM

I found a couple of temp folders (C:Appdate/local/temp (225MB & C: Windows/temp 66MB ). Can you help me to better understand or how to find where the Temp folder is, pointing? I get the impression that the error message is somehow or another "referring" to the external hard drive where the files are housed and where I'm working from.

Thank you for replying!

Open VEGAS, go to File - Properties. Where is the "Prerendered Files Folder" pointing to?

Go to Options - Preferences. Where is the "Temporary Files Folder" pointing to?

How much space is available on that drive?

C:\Users\miche\AppData\Local\VEGAS Pro\15.0\

I think this has something to do with the large size of your storage drive and your older Vegas version. There was an access bug and I don't recall the exact details.

Couple of things to try;

  1. Swap your 5TB drive with something under 2TB temporarily. Does it work?
  2. Download the trial version of Vegas 20 and test it.

This is great information and I appreciate you taking the time to share it with me. I’ve been struggling with whether or not to upgrade and I guess it’s that time. Thanks again my friend!
