Vegas pro 16 freezes when audio file added.

Hi,

Vegas pro 16. New build 352.

Problem started when I started adding an audio file ( .mp3) recorded through Vegas ONLY, after a minute or so, a message appears ( as shown in picture attached ) that says, "Pause ( enter, play; Ctrrl + F12) and then Vegas freezes. tried it multiple times. same result. screen simply freezes. Same thing happens with Movie studio 15 platinum. latest build installed. Audio file is MP3 whose property also attached. vegas otheriwise plays the audio file perfectly fine...

It later turned out that problem does NOT seem to be with the audio file. simply opening a project, and playing it for few seconds and by pressing pause icon or clicking anywhere on Vegas results in Vegas freezing...

I have i7 7 series laptop with 16GB RAM and Nvidia 1050Ti card.

When I added a audio file "recorded trough Vegas Only" I always get a wav file

and not mp3. So you must have done something with that file that Vegas does not like, but that you did not tell.

Well. Not really. What i do is, I record using my microphone attached to my GH5: Video, with my Golden voice. Then i render the video as MP3 . This is what i have done since Sony vegas 11 days...

However, as i have posted an edit, this problem is happening without audio file too.

Mp3 is not video. It is compressed audio.

You do not want mp3 audio in any video file, because it is not a standard format pairing, so it usually will not work depending on your player. I hope you are not still using DivX.

Mp3 audio might not be recommended for videov but it works wonderfully well. Over last 6 years, i have created endless videos like this. Anyways, thats besides the point. This issue occurs irrespective of audio file. Let me edit my problem statement.

Maybe the OP means MP4. MP3 is certainly not video. When recording audio through Vegas (or Sound Forge) it is internally floating point 32 bit data, it can then be saved as a PCM, MP3, AAC or whatever. Lossy type audio files (MP3, AAC, Flac, ect) should be avoided until the final delivery format. Record/save in the lossless PCM format ..typically WAVE files <.wav> 48kHz, 16 or 24 bits.

AAC audio is universally playable with MP4 video.

Mp3 is not, but if you don't plan on delivering the media to others feel free to experiment.

I imagine YouTube would convert that for you, but that's two lossy encodes.

I think I have found the issue. issue comes up ONLY when i select Intel driver in preferences.when i select Nvidia there, then problem disappears.. however I am between rock and a hard place. with Nvidia, my rendering rashes. INtel works there. it seems i will have to edit with Nvidia and then render using intel.

How exactly do you do this? Which exact Vegas render template do you use?

Try updating your Intel HD Graphics driver, if a newer one is available.
