Vegas PRO 17 doesn't recognize 4K MOV video and stops import.

Mik_Swe wrote on 10/6/2019, 11:41 AM

When importing a video shot in 4K Vegas PRO 17, build 321, the import stops and an error message saying that the file is an unsupported format.

However I tried to import the same file in Vegas 16, build 424, and it works perfectly which indicates that the computer, hardware, OS (I am using WIN 10, build 1809) and so on is working alright and that this is an error in the Vegas PRO 17 software.

I am getting a bit annoyed over this and other stuff that VEGAS throws at me over and over again so I hope for a quick answer that can help me.

Edit:

It is a QT .MOV file shot in a Canon 5DIV. File size is 1.53 GB, res 4096*2160, Dataspeed 527130kbit/s at 29,97 fps.

I have compared the settings between Vegas 16 and 17 but can not see any real difference and since ver 16 do recognize the file and import it correctly I assume it is a bug in vegas 17. That is unless it works for others.

Your "quick answer" is waiting on receipt of detailed information about your as-yet unspecified 4k file.

Vegas 17 has quicktime support turned off by default and only relies on native decoding of (some types) of .mov files. You can turn it back on.

It hit me later that evening that I probably should have given some more information about what kind of file it was.

I looked around but could not find where to switch it back on or even if it was turned off. Hint please :-)
