Vegas Pro 20 Graphical Glitching, Unusable

Shalz wrote on 11/7/2022, 11:19 AM

I just bought Vegas Pro 20 because my 19 version became completely unusable out of nowhere. When I opened Vegas Pro 20 it had exactly the same issue.
I can't see the preview of my video, I can't move anything, I can't open any windows, there are blue boxes on the screen - basically the software is completely unusable and I am on a strict deadline right now. I don't even know where I am posting this to but if anyone here knows any fix other than "restart your PC" "re-install vegas" I would be very grateful. I was going to screenshot the software but it just became completely white and not even task manager can shut it down. The rest of my PC is working fine.

Does this problem occur as you try to import media to your project?

It started out of nowhere and I did not import any media for around 30 minutes until the problems started. My guess is that one of the media files is causing it since I can still edit other projects, so I am right now trying to re-encode the video footage.

Edit: I can no longer open the vegas file, it says it is "An error occured while loading the project file. The reason for the error could not be determined."

If you need help with a specific file, post its properties, otherwise we won't know where to start.

If you have a corrupt project file, start a new one after you have solved your file import problem.

I don't know which file is faulty, I have tried everything and nothing works. I can't open the file properties as my vegas looks like the image and I can't do anything except start the video (no preview playback and audio plays for about a second before going nuts)

For a second it also looked like this:

You might try turning off "Nahimic" on your system. You can do a search for that here or at Google.

As Jetdv says- here's one link with what looks like the same issue.

Ah I was hoping that would be the issue but I have checked and it seems I do not have anything called Nahimic on my system. My last attempt will be to uninstall Vegas completely, update my Windows to 11, reinstall every single driver I need and uninstall every software I have no use for. I will update here if I find a solution.

Update: Did everything I could. No difference. I have ran out of ideas.

Have you contacted the support?

I am curious, how does disabling Nahimic in this type of situation help?

RogerS wrote on 11/9/2022, 6:30 PM

Nahimic improperly uses graphical resources Vegas and other programs need.

I would suggest the OP try to turn Windows Presentation Foundation to false in Vegas internal preferences in case it helps.
