Vegas Pro 20 update

Reyfox wrote on 1/23/2023, 4:51 AM

@fr0sty has hinted about it, now it's here.

The update from within VP20 is painfully slow. The update is 630MB, and on my fiber optic internet, it's dialup speed. But I can wait while it does it's thing. I'll answer all my emails.

Can't wait to explore what's new!

I've just updated and the download was slow - but not the 2 hours DL that it used to be years ago (cable now with 100 Mbps DL speed but previously 50).

What was really good was that after the VP20 upgrade finished downloading, another update window appeared to update the Deep Learning Models.

@Dexcon I was scratching my head when you mentioned another update window for DLM, since I didn't see it. But after starting the updated VP20, the update window for it appears. Another "dialup" speed download.

Another "dialup" speed download.

Maybe not exactly that bad. Back in the late 90s/early 2000s, a large Windows update of a massive 35 Mbs would take 3 to 6 hours to download - and hopefully without the ever likely copper wire glitch that would terminate the DL 😒.

I decided to use the installer rather than the in-application updater and the speed is slow but not horrendous.
I'm on a 1GBps connection here (Dubai) and DL speed is showing at around 600KB/s this includes the Deep Learning module of course fwiw.

Could be worse and I needed cuppa tea anyway...

Also need the direct link for Deep Learning Models.
Installed via the painfully slow download, installed, and now when I open Vegas I'm getting prompted to re-download deep learning tools again and again. Tried 3 times now.

Everything done and installed. I can see the new startup options when you open Vegas. Makes things easier for new people coming to Vegas. Nice to link to tutorials also.

@mofobo ... Just a suggestion ... reboot your computer and then try the download again. I've had to do that in the past but, to be fair, quite some years ago with the main VP program, not the DLMs.

Will do, cheers. I'm just waiting on it downloading again via the Service Center installer. If it doesn't work this time I'll try a restart.

Edit: Using the installer fixed it. Thanks anyway @Dexcon

Both went fine for me about 4 mins each.

Faster downloads via the VEGAS website than launching from the program

@mofobo I had the same problem , I rebooted my pc and tried again it downloaded the deep models again but this time Vegas closed and installed it correctly

Whenever a major update is released, downloads become intolerably slow for a few days, because everybody wants theirs at the same time. This has happened with all three major releases of Vegas 20...
