Very bad flickering fix needed

YesMaestro wrote on 2/28/2020, 11:26 AM

I just finished filming a conference where I had to film close ups of the speaker. They were standing in front of a large led screen. I got very bad flickering from it no matter what camera setting I chose (I was using the Sony a6400). The wide shot that I had is fine. What plugin would you recommend to help get rid of it. Thanks.

I doubt there is much you can do with asynchronous flicker, but others here will try if you will upload an original sample to Drive or Dropbox (not YouTube).

Here's the dropbox link to one of the files:

Wow, that's beyond my pay scale. Even if you can mask the background, the throbbing cyan color fringes are going to make it look like outer space.

Might get somewhere with a combination of Bezier / Secondary CC.

I also think would you'd need is not a de-flicker tool, but some kind of keying or masking to get rid of the whole background. It's not just flickering, it's a pulsing change of the background structure.

I'll try that Marco. How do I avoid this issue in the future?

Not to sound trite, but turn off the screen or drop a curtain.

Unfortunately I had no control of the screen. I did not have this issue when the screen was white. Really only with the blue and red colors.

Is there a way to avoid this in the future should it happen again? I had dropped the camera even down to 1/30 of a sec but it didn't make a difference.

Take a look at Digital Anarchy Flicker Free, that plugin is a master at removing on-sreen flickers. Give the trial a test and see the results.

NeatVideo also have de-flickers (global and local). However, I have no idea how it would work in this situation.
