Video & audio out of sync after changing aspect ratio

Hi, I'm using Vegas Pro 18 but this problem is also in Vegas Pro 19, so I imported a video with dimensions of 720x576 but I wanted it to fill the my project settings screen which is 1920x1080, it automatically fills the height but there are black bars on either side so I needed to change the aspect ratio, I looked up online how to do this and they said to use event pan/crop, uncheck lock aspect ratio, change maintain aspect ratio to no and change stretch to fill frame to no, I did all this and it filled the screen correctly but then when I was checking the video, sometimes the video and audio would go out of sync, and the video would sometimes replay a clip or show a black screen for a few seconds, the audio is at the right time but the video shows incorrectly sometimes, this isn't an the case with the source video, so I'm not sure what to do or why it's doing this.

Oh I just realised it does this without changing the aspect ratio, so something is going wrong before that.

Ok it seems to be because the files were converted from mkv beforehand, and Vegas didn't like that, I renderded them in another program and then re-imported them into Vegas and they work fine now.

When you want to fill a rectangle that is a different shape, you can crop, you can stretch, or you can have bars on two borders. That's about it. Glad you found a solution.
