VP15: FX on track?

wwjd wrote on 9/5/2017, 9:29 AM

I thought having the "FX" option on each video track was really common. Am I the minority using it all the time? Anyone know how to turn that button on so it STAYS on the track? The TRACK, not the clip. I've turned it on several times, sometimes it stays, sometimes it's gone again. Couldn't find it in the PREFS, maybe I missed it

Edit the visible buttons via the hamburger menu in the track header.

If you mean on the left, yes that is where I did it, but was gone when starting a new project. Any way to default leaving them on everything forever?

This is strange. Does not happen here on my two systems. Once an icon is selected via the hamburger menu it stays there even after many program and system restarts. Don't know what may cause this on other systems.

@wwjd

Can you post a screen shot? I had something similar happen when I first opened the trial and cannot remember what I did to change it. The fx buttons etc are always there now.

Well... now they are showing up all the time. That's great, but I don't know what I did wrong. The "TURN ON" button was obvious, so I was stunned they weren't staying on - which is why I bothered with this question. :) Maybe it is the TYPE of content you drag to timeline??

Nope. gone again. I do a lot of: open vegas, drop some clip on a track and go. All the buttons are gone again, requiring me to go add them back on. I never recall having to add them to the track in 14. This change seems inane and time wasting.

Try in new empty project, readjust the UI including turn on your visible button choices, and then quit VP, restart again... do you able to keep the button on?

Did you try dragging the edge of the track header to the right just a bit?

Maybe I missed the question.

Kinvermark wrote on 9/7/2017, 5:04 PM

Got a screen shot?

wwjd wrote on 9/7/2017, 8:54 PM

I think SET nailed it: add the buttons, close vegas. Now, new video tracks, or dragon drop still have buttons on the track.

wwjd wrote on 9/9/2017, 11:11 AM

figured out the issue: hitting ALT-D-C to reset the screen setup, puts the TRACKS back to some default without the FX buttons... so, gotta re-add it all over again. Why? Needs a system default setting to leave these buttons on there. Doesn't most everyone use those buttons on tracks? Is this a bug or a feature?

Why not just save your own window layouts that include the buttons you want? You can still reach custom layouts via keyboard shortcuts.

I've never used Vegas THAT deeply. Just jumped in and go. Wondering why I have to do that extra step for something that has always been there, then suddenly is no longer there? Did someone complain about too many handy buttons on a track? Maybe a graphics overhead issue?
