This not about a Vegas Pro bug, well I don't think it is. But rather a request for advice on tools I used along with Vegas.
Context : Previewing in Vegas Pro is often too heavy to run smoothly in my projects, so I very often do partial renders to check everything smoothly.
Software : I used to avoid visualisation in Windows Media Player because it reinforced contrast (or is it a colour space thing?) (Also because Media Player had a tendency to re-assign all files extensions to itself, which I found very annoying.) I don't know Media Player status now, I just don't use it.
I use to rely on VLC which use to have a neutral playback (I mean the same as Vegas Pro preview).
Monitor : I also avoid checking on a screens that brings image adaptation (such as my TV), I compare all on the same Asus ProArt series monitor.
Output format : Uncompressed AVI
Problem and question(s)
But on my current project, I noticed that VLC playback is not neutral anymore. It looks more contrasted/darker than Vegas Pro preview.
- Is it something that I should configure on VLC?
- Is it something that I should configure in Vegas preview?
- Should I use something else than VLC?
Things already tried (without success)
- I tried all possible Limited/Full colorspace settings between an event without any effects on it and export settings, tried "Default color space", "Generic- sRGB" and "REC709".
- I have now also tried changing "Pixel format" and subsequent settings in project Properties.
