Make sure you have QUANTIZE TO FRAME enabled and slide the scene so it aligns with the frameline. Don't know if that is the problem, but is a possibility.

I mean it kinda works but it's skipping the first video frame, it's black on the first frame.

Looking at your timeline, your first frame of video is not on a frame border. Did you do as I suggested in my first post. (turn on QUANTIZE and slide scene so it lines up correctly)

Here's an alternative if you do not understand David.

1. Start with a fresh project.

2. Turn ON Quantize and Snapping.

3. Import your media.

Now, when you zoom in on the timeline, you will plainly see that the frames are correctly aligned to boundaries.
