why does Vegas Pro 17 constantly crash and VP 12 is fine?

I sure hope there is some setting I'm overlooking in VP 17 that makes it crash so easily.
I've had so many crashes due to so many reasons ...moving around in 4K projects, mixing .mov with mp4 or even just adding text to a 1080P timeline!
I just rebuilt that same 1080P project in VP 12 and had zero issues.
What the heck could be causing these crashes in VP 17...apparently not my system as VP 12 does fine.
In case you're wondering why I upgraded it's because someone here told me upgrading would resolve my issue regarding VP 12 not recognizing certain mp4s but VP 17 will crash when trying to add text to a simple 1080P timeline?
Surely there's a setting I have in VP 12 that I don't have in VP17...or something!

Thanks,

Randy

My 17 crashed with adding text until I updated the Intel onboard graphics drivers. 16 and previous didn't do that. Mine is different hardware (Intel UHD 630) but worth a try.

I have the media info page but don't see a way to save so I can upload here...I've been a member of this forum for a decade but have never seen some of the new requirements...looks like I have some homework to do

My Intel 620 with latest drivers requires that I disable GPU Acceleration of. Video Processing.

You've been gone a long time Randy. WELCOME BACK!!

hmm, I'll try disabling GPU acceleration and keep my fingers crossed.

I'd say it's good to be back my friend but under the circumstances umm...😄

Thanks very much for your post!
