This seems to be a common problem with that variant of the AAC codec called "AAC Low Complexity" and Vegas, upon a quick search.

Install or update quicktime and then make sure the quicktime plugin is enabled in Vegas here in Options > Preferences > Depreciated features > enable the quicktime plugin. Then restart the program and try again - I'd also delete the cached files that Vegas may create for the video in the directory the video is in (.sfk files, etc) before importing it again.

Also, on a tangent, Vegas does not do well with variable frame rate videos.

(Note I'm using Vegas Pro 17, might be a little different for you).

So I shot the original video with a Windows surface go because my Vegas video is on my desktop I sent it to Google drive and downloaded it to my desktop.

cooke-h wrote on 1/12/2021, 12:14 PM

@Teagan I will try this but would better versions of Vegas have this issue? I am not against upgrading as I like the camera on the surface go.

Teagan wrote on 1/12/2021, 12:21 PM

I am not sure to be honest. I would not think it would matter due to the program versions being that similar.

The trials for Vegas Pro 18 and Media studio 18 are free to try, though.

@Teagan hmm i do not have that option in my preferences(?)

Might be because of another version of Vegas. Sorry.

@cooke-h You haven't answered what j-v asked earlier "Which program and buildnumber is used?". It would help to know so we can advise further.

Musicvid wrote on 1/12/2021, 3:40 PM

Your video is variable frame rate.

That's why we need to know your Vegas version and build number.

cooke-h wrote on 1/12/2021, 5:58 PM

@EricLNZ sorry. I use Vegas Movie Studio 11.0 build 75

As suggested, download the Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 17 trial.
