I don't think Vegas handles these transport streams natively. Conversion and stream correction are the recommended course before bringing them into any editor. This software has a free trial:

I get video with silent audio in VLC Player, Movie Studio 14 and Vegas Pro 14 and 15.

this is what i get https://i.imgur.com/Ihi2mH1.png . I was hoping that it would work in 14 but it does not. I use a different better screen recorder now but I still have all these old videos I have.

Did you try the trial version of Videoredo? I gave you a link.

Former user wrote on 10/26/2017, 8:43 PM

I already have a video converter. It's just that there is alot of quality loss (and time)

Musicvid wrote on 10/27/2017, 1:43 AM

OK suit yourself, but what you just said is pure conjecture.

You are confusing format conversion with codec conversion, which is entirely different than what I attempted to help you with.

Videoredo is a MUXER. There is no inherent quality loss whatsoever and very little time involved because it is a DIRECT STREAM COPY. It is designed to work with dirty transport streams, including DVR-MS.

But since your mind is already made up, it may not work for you. Besides, its not free after the trial.

Oh sorry I did not understand. Do you know any paid programs for codec converting? edit: just got videoredo. how do I use it? I just saved a video after loading it and there was a big frame rate drop. If you have discord go ahead and click this so we can talk for a minute https://discord.gg/TM9gMK6

Musicvid wrote on 10/30/2017, 8:26 PM

If you mean it dropped a lot of frames, your video may be beyond rescue due to stream errors, sorry. There is nothing better I have found for the job.

Former user wrote on 10/31/2017, 8:47 AM

Can you click on that link so I can ask you some questions please? If you don't have discord, then just click this https://lets.rabb.it/886j/cR2Fmxm3GH Type in the message box and if I am not there then try discord or post here again or just wait.

I don't do IM or PM, sorry. Ask your questions here and I will reply when time permits. I can't give instructions for VideoRedo, however.

I bought a digital converter box called an eMatic for $30 from Target that records up to 1080p in .mts format, totally Vegas-friendly and great quality. No hoops to jump through.

Former user wrote on 11/2/2017, 8:41 AM

Musicvid, I looked up that eMatic box. Looks like it could be interesting. There are two descriptions though, one says 720p and the other says 1080. You say it does 1080p, is that right?

Musicvid wrote on 11/2/2017, 1:01 PM

Yes. It records whatever stream is broadcast, up to 1080p. But in my area they are all 1080i and 720p.

@Former user

The mpeg-2 .MTS files with AC3 audio are quite nice to work with in Vegas.

Haven't had the need yet, but they will open in VideoRedo+, the older and cheaper version.

@Musicvid

What is a digital convert box?

Musicvid wrote on 11/4/2017, 4:30 PM

It's something we use in the United States to convert ATSC channels to NTSC Probably something you would not need to know about in other countries of the world.
