WMV Footage archiving to AVCHD

I am rendering an old WMV project to AVCHD.

WMV footage is 1280 x 720 but appears too narrow in Vegas Movie Studio. (Picture is about 900 x 720 with vertical black bands at either side)

The WMV footage is currently on a network drive. It streams OK via a Blu-ray player but direct to TV display is too narrow.

Rendered AVCHD displays too narrow

I have Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 14 build 122.

PC is Dell XPS 16 GB RAM i7-7500

Are there any settings which makes the finished project the correct ratio (i.e. not too narrow)

Thanks

Match Media Properties in your project and see if it looks right.

You won't fit 900x720 in a 1280x720 frame without cropping, stretching, or black bars. The rectangles have to be the same shape.

For more specific support, please provide both your source and render properties.

If the original WMV is really 1280x720, appears the DAR/PAR is not being recognized correctly. I would try using Handbrake to convert the WMV to MP4.

I will recommend for all conversions

I'm using it portable.
