59.94p to 29.97i

Musicvid wrote on 1/10/2019, 1:31 PM

I have animated footage generated at 59.94p RGB Uncompressed.

Over that, I have overlaid correctly alternating fields (psd alpha) rendered to 59.94p RGBA.

The preview effect is correct (interlaced frames in a 59.94p project.)

I have a problem rendering to 29.97i (59.94 fields). Only the first field shows when opened in a 59.94p project.

Of course I knew how to do this at one time, but I can't even remember when.

How about your project and render settings?

And is your preview set to "Best/(Full)" without any scaling to prevent fit the frame to the preview window?

project 59.94p or 29.97i, makes no difference in render.

render HD 1080 59.94i - only getting first field although both fields show correctly in the 59.94p project.

preview is set to "Best/(Full)" without any scaling

I wonder how the deinterlace method is set and if this affects it somehow.

Which codec did you use?

I just tried here with alternating black and white frames in an 59,94p project rendered to 29,97i (Sony YUV) and that worked fine. The resulting clip has alternating black and white lines from each of the former black and white frames.

Got it sorted I think !

I just needed to render my master RGBA rather than RGB.

Here is 3 sec. worth. It's unflagged for some reason, but was rendered HD 1080 60i (29.97i).

Put it in VLC, set 1:1 display size, turn deinterlace on, and flip through the choices to see what I'm up to (a software deinterlacer benchmark).

Who are you, the international copyright police?

Certainly not. Just someone attempting to alert a fellow creator to potential legal challenges - not from me but from a trademark holder. So let me rephrase it.

"Hey, that looks like the down-under ABC logo - looks like fun, and again, good luck with your venture, just keep an eye out for those legal types. You never know what sorts of generic thing they will try to copyright."

I repeat - good luck with your venture.

Much better - post deleted.

If you'll have a peek at my signature, you'll see this isn't my first rodeo.

For the record, the image is modified from media generated by http://robertinventor.com/software/Lissajous_3D/index.htm

Their site publishes a liberal Acceptable Use Policy, which should answer your question.

Lissajous is a math equation, not somebody's original content.

x = a sin(nt + c), y = b sin(t)

Otherwise, should I surrender my 1960's oscilloscope for having created copyrighted images?

Although the media I used is marked free for both commercial and non-commercial use, my images and content used for testing and benchmarking are free to editors for non-commercial use only, as always. Best.

Sorry @Marco, and thanks for your help. The digging you asked me to do actually led me right to my mistake!
