My Dad just bought the newest version of Sony Vegas Pro 14 (purchased 10/18/17. Has not had any issue with the older versions running it in the past. After installation, he got an an error message when trying to run the software that says this file is missing: api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll . He has uninstalled and reinstalled the software. Same issue. Can you help me advise him about what to do? He is using Windows 7 Pro. He has an i3 processor. 12Gig of memory. 2 Gig of video memory.

Thank you!

Make sure to FIRST install the .NET version that packed with your Vegas installer.

Then, reinstall Vegas.

Since you've got a runtime error, there's a good chance this will fix it.

It is expected that he will have multiple versions of .NET running concurrently on Windows.

Hello LLJM!

I have same problem as you mentioned here. Then i decide to get information about api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll and acknowledge the actual causes which behind this error. It linked to C++ programming language. If any file missing then its mean programs which we want to running in this language won’t launch successfully, at the end we find this error.

Solution:

1- Reinstalling the Visual C++ Redistributable Packages.
2- Update your windows
3- Running the system file checker

This happens when Windows isn't updated or when Visual C++ 2015 libraries are corrupted/non installed/outdated.

This libraries can be downloaded from Microsoft site and install or upgrade as needed.
Other solution is to download missing api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll separately from dll filebase.
Also, make sure that you have Windows Update are set to download automatic updates and there are no pending updates.
