I Have Movie Studio 15 Platinum and all is good.

But if I go into Options then Preferances and under the Audio Device Type I have a Dropdown Box that says.

1. Microsoft Sound Mapper. 2. Direct Sound Surround Mapper. 3. Windows Classic WAV Driver.

Now I havw Win7. 64 Bit and in Device Manager under Sound and Video Devices for Audio it has Intel High Definition Audio Device..

And yes it is an OnBoard Audio Device.

Witch one should I pick from the list thanks?

Your HD Audio Device is the ASIO driver, I believe.

Use that. Lowest latency and real-time monitoring.

Robert-Costo wrote on 1/5/2019, 9:54 PM

Where is my ASIO drive I do not see it in the List so how do I pick it?

Musicvid wrote on 1/5/2019, 10:02 PM

I said, I believe your Intel HD Audio  IS the ASIO driver.

Select your Intel HD Audio Device driver. Honest.

Robert-Costo wrote on 1/5/2019, 10:39 PM

I do not see it in the DAudio Device Dropdown Box in Movie Studio 15 Platinum. I gave the list above of the 3. Audio Drivers. Witch one do I pick from the List above?

In Movie Studio 15 Platinum under Audio Device I see Microsoft Sound Mapper is this it? Or Direct Sound Surround Mapper is this it? Or Windows Classic WAV Driver?

This is all that is in the list I do not see what you say.

I think the best is not to change the setting made during install of the program, Only when you have somewhere a problem you can try another or new installed one. Most of the time the Vegas program makes the best choice you need to use the program.

In Preferences, pick Intel High Definition Audio Device Driver.

That is one if the drivers on your list.

Why do I say this three times?

@Robert-Costo Your Intel High Definition Audio Device listed in your systems Device Manager is fine as is. In Movie Studio, as @j-v suggest is best to leave as installed, which is probably Microsoft Sound Mapper. But you are free to change to any of the other two options to determine for yourself which works best and which you like. Often if "all is good" it is best to leave things alone!

Pick Door #2.

Direct Sound Surround Mapper

LCVideo wrote on 2/27/2019, 9:45 PM

What if none of them work properly? I have those (1. Microsoft Sound Mapper. 2. Direct Sound Surround Mapper. 3. Windows Classic WAV Driver.) And 4. Realtek ASIO.

They all sound like either the I'm listening through a tunnel. Or like the surround channel is mapped to the front.

Thing is I used to have Movie Studio 11 and I remember picking one of those fixed this issue. Now that I'm on 16, it doesn't seem to matter. A separate test outside of Vegas ensured me that my plug is in the correct port.

Musicvid wrote on 2/27/2019, 9:53 PM

@LCVideo

You may be experiencing Latency.

Don't route your input and monitor to the speakers at the same time.

Dont leave multiple Record Inputs open. That's in the little speaker icon in your tray.

Your Realtek ASIO device may have settings to reduce latency at the expense of sample depth.

This is really kind of Windows stuff.

In the future, consider starting your own thread for your own questions.

Well like I say in Movie Studio 15 Platinum I have for Audio Devices just these.

1. Microsoft Sound Mapper. 2. Direct Sound Surround Mapper. 3. Windows Classic WAV Driver.

But like I say my PC. has Intel HD Audio.

This is not showing up in Movie Studio 15 Audio list just the 3. I have above.

So what am I not understanding?

I know I can pick any of the 3. I listed in Movie Studio.

But they do not say Intel HD so what does this mean?

Does it mean Movie Studio Audio will not work Right with my System?

Or should I go with 1. Microsoft Sound Mapper and it will go with my Systems Intel HD Driver?

Thanks, Musicvid, but I don't think that's the issue because I can barely hear the center or front channels. This sounds exactly like problems with every installation I had in earlier Vegas, except back then, changing the Audio Device setting worked.

Right now, the only workaround I can figure out is to add another track for "monitoring" that's a mixdown mono version of the dialog. Then mute that track whenever I render the video, and it comes out fine. This seems like a silly way to work right now.
