Audio does not render correctly from source

eric-ouellette wrote on 11/22/2020, 8:50 PM

For about a week now, Movie Studio Platinum 16.0 is not correctly loading the audio when I transfer my source file (MP4) to edit. It causes glitches and repeats(audio) in the timeline. I find sections of audio that are out of sync with the video or audio snipits later in the audio from earlier in the video.

Any suggestions?

THANKS for posting your file properties according to directions. It helps!

A couple of suggestions, in recommended order:

1. Try turning off s04:

https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/avc-xavc-s-issues-in-vp15-try-disabling-so4compoundplug-dll--108345/

2. Try running your file through Handbrake, select Constant Frame Rate, Same as Source.

3. Consider using OBS as your capture utility.

Thank you for the suggestions Musicvid

1. I turned of So4 and was able to import 1 file 1 time and it appeared to correct the issue. However I have not been able to import any other files again. Movie Studio 16.0 Platinum freezes when I try and import a file. The freezing is new.

2. I ran a file through Handbrake with the settings you suggested then tried importing the file again in Movie Studio 16.0 Platinum. This appears to have resolved the issue with both the audio clitches and the new freezing issue.

3. i will continue trying the Handbrake solution for now and come back to this one if anything else occurs

It is so odd that this issue appeared out of nowhere. Last week I had no problems at all and all of a sudden, this appears. I have not changed any settings for over a year and suddenly things don't work anymore. Would be nice to know what happened but that may remain a mystery forever.

Well, here is an update. When I try and render the edited file (run through handbrake, apply edits to timeline, save a .vf copy ) the render freezes. There is a serious issue with this software that needs to be fixed. I can run the stock file through a simple open source application , Shot Cut, without any of the issues. I would really like to know why all of a sudden Movie Studio 16.0 Platinum has bricked itself. I have had a similar issue with 15 where it would complete the render but only the first few seconds of the entire video were shown for the entire video that came up out of the blue without warning and now issues with 16 out of the blue. 2 versions back to back within a year of purchasing them making the software useless. Beginning to question if it worth the money I have spent so far. Doubtful that I will continue with this patform

@eric-ouellette Which render template are you using?

@eric-ouellette

Next best thing to try is resetting Vegas. Then try it with s04 turned off and on.

Magix AVC/AAC MP4

Internet HD 1080p 59.94fps (NVIDIA NVENC)

Use this setting to create an MP4 (AVC/AAC) file for progressive internet downloads using NVidia's NVENC.
Audio: 192 Kbps, 48,000 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo, AAC
Video: 59.940 fps, 1920x1080 Progressive, YUV, 20 Mbps
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.000

Which I had modified the YUV ever since using Movie Studio 15

Use this setting to create an MP4 (AVC/AAC) file for progressive internet downloads using NVidia's NVENC.
Audio: 192 Kbps, 48,000 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo, AAC
Video: 59.940 fps, 1920x1080 Progressive, YUV, 28 Mbps
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.000

Reset did not change anything. Uninstall and install did nothing. Drivers update, nothing. Audio is still corrupted when importing in to Movie Stdio. Audio source works fine in VLC, Movie Player, Shot Cut. I'm at a loss.
