.AVI that Vegas does not recognize...

I bought a Bushnell trail camera because I was pretty sure there was a critter under our sun room floor (no access to actual house under there). Set up the camera and got this:

Suspicions confirmed!

Weird thing is that the actual .avi file is not recognized by Vegas.

Here it is if you care to take a look: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5dways1a6e0tzz8/06040132.AVI?dl=0

My son uses "OpenShot" on occasion (for gamer stuff), which an open source video editor. I tried that out and it recognized the file and I was able to render the .mp4 for YouTube quite easily. http://www.openshot.org/

Media Info file attached.

Any thoughts on why Vegas won't read it?

You need x264vfw Codec. Even then, demuxing the audio "may" be needed.

Thanks, Musicvid. I downloaded/installed the codec from sourceforge. Did you glean this info from the media info data or is it something you just knew...?

Great shot of the fox! "Fox under the porch" must be as much good luck as a "fiddler on the roof"

AVC in AVI container was the tipoff.
