Oh, come on. You know the drill.

You are requesting source media info. Not sure why that would matter as much as destination but OK. .mp4, MTS and stills/hirez photos

Render to track is useful to generate a smooth preview of a complicated part of your timeline. To get rid of some overlay tracks, I would use nesting.

KwikPreview! 😉

@Musicvid Why are you asking for mediainfo on media that doesn't exist?

@JHendrix Your question has a lot of answers, all depending on your specific needs.

fwiw, my preference is magicyuv which is lossless, inexpensive, fast and the file sizes are, imo, reasonable. I use it very regularly to pre-render tracks with and without alpha that I can consider "done"

System 1:

Windows 10
i9-10850K 10 Core
128.0G RAM
Nvidia RTX 3060 Studio driver [most likely latest]
Resolution        3840 x 2160 x 60 hertz
Video Memory 12G GDDR5

System 2:

Lenovo Yoga 720
Core i7-7700 2.8Ghz quad core, 8 logical
16G ram
Intel HD 630 gpu 1G vram
Nvidia GTX 1050 gpu 2G vram

@michael-harrison

He says his media is this.

@JHendrix

You asked "What is best format for uncompressed / pass-through with no audio and reasonable file size?"

To me, the first thing I would want to know is my highest common source, since different media will optimize at very different "reasonable" file sizes; depending, of course, on what can be smart-rendered or rendered losslessly, with or without compression. But if it doesn't matter to you, don't bother.

@Musicvid You didn't say any of that in your reply. We can't hear you through the intertubes, you have to actually write your thoughts out.

And best of the holidays to you too, Michael!

I thought @JHendrix just wanted to get rid of some Overlay tracks (probably with transparency). Using Nesting instead of "rendering to new track" keeps original Overlay tracks editable (and their transparency), is lossless, doesn't require almost no storage space and extra rendering time.

Musicvid wrote on 12/5/2020, 11:34 AM

Yes, that would do it, without playing 20 Questions.

Yeah nesting does turn out to be the rx in this case, thanks for reminding me. I have been away from Vegas for a few years!
