For 4K, I'm using XAVC Intra 3840x2160-29.97p which produces pretty big files and lengthens the upload time, but the results are very good. Prior to that I tried creating a custom template for 3840x2160 for MainConcept but the encoder immediately crashes 100% of the time. The XAVC encoder is much more stable.

Thanks everybody.

KCC that's a pretty big file is it?

:O

There is no point in exceeding recommendations because it won't affect YouTube's encoding. It all gets homogenized.

Speed tips for uploading to YT --

-- use "fast start" or "web optimized" when encoding your video. This cuts YouTube's upstream processing time almost in half.

-- main profile is all that is needed for standard def, and is faster door-to-door..

-- don't give YouTube anamorphic or interlaced video. Stick with standard sizes and frame rates. Don't upscale. It accomplishes nothing.

-- sync problems are often caused by VFR uploads. Use CFR.

-- scenes with high motion complexity or fades will always play badly on YT -- Vimeo is usually better.

Thank you. Hey if I used main concept mpeg-4 do I also have to render as AC3?

Or is that just for DVD architect?

Mainconcept AVC/AAC has render templates for Internet that use AAC audio.

WestsideSteve wrote on 12/16/2016, 1:55 PM

I was wondering if that requires a separate render for audio like MPEG 2 for DVD architect?

And it doesn't require a separate audio render. It did take a long time.

1080

Try use SonyAVC/MVC to render to h.264 MP4 for internet uses. Much faster than Mainconcept's. And, AC3 is only for DVD / BD authoring purposes.

Thanks for the tip.

I will try that next time. This one was about 11 minutes long and took just a tad longer than two and a half hours to upload. At 1080 internet. It looks good though.
