Brand new Pc and Program stops responding and crashes

Kimberly-Durecki wrote on 5/16/2020, 8:26 PM

Vegas pro 16 still crashes and stops responding. I just had a new pc built yesterday. I work from a solid state drive, Windows 10 OS, 64 gigs of Ram, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3 GB graphics card, Intel Core i7-9700 CPU. The first video I started to work on today and the program crashes, needless to say I was upset. I disable resample on clips also if that helps. What can do going on. I want to also add that it always stopped responding in my other computer also.

2nd question- on my older computer when I would overlay 2 clips together I would always go to 0.500 not 1.000, but now on the new computer I can only go from 0 to 0.28 and then to 1.00 nothing in between. I changed it in the preferences under editing and changed the cut to overlap conversaion to 0.500 but it still will not allow me to go to that . Please help. Thank you in advance also!

We need:

Your project settings

If the crash happens when rendering, your render settings

A mediainfo report for each type of media you have.

What build of Vegas Pro 17 you are using (it will list this on the startup screen when Vegas is loading), or you can find it in the help menu).

This will help us diagnose your issue.

Try it , you can always deselect again.
That option makes it easier for your hardware to edit the sources

Go into preferences, and into the file i/o settings. What decoder is selected? It will either be nvdec or quicksync. Whatever it is set to, try setting it to the other option, or try disabling it completely. See if that helps.

Did you select this option?

I have this option enable, it never make any proxies on my 4K media automatically. Need to do it manually.

Automatic proxy building in Vegas Pro 17 starts at 4097x2161, your sizes are below.

If you want to let it work with lower resolutions, go into the internal preferences, look for "proxy", find the two lines which define the minimum resolution and set it to the new value.

Kimberly-Durecki wrote on 5/18/2020, 10:17 PM

Hi, I do not use 4K footage it is 1080 at 60 fps

michael-harrison wrote on 5/19/2020, 9:48 AM

@Kimberly-Durecki have you gone through the steps in the FAQ that specifically address how to make VP more stable?

Also...

1) Try a clean driver install. http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
2) Try the steps here

System 1:

Windows 10
i9-10850K 10 Core
128.0G RAM
Nvidia RTX 3060 Studio driver [most likely latest]
Resolution        3840 x 2160 x 60 hertz
Video Memory 12G GDDR5

System 2:

Lenovo Yoga 720
Core i7-7700 2.8Ghz quad core, 8 logical
16G ram
Intel HD 630 gpu 1G vram
Nvidia GTX 1050 gpu 2G vram

michael-harrison wrote on 5/19/2020, 9:52 AM

@Kimberly-Durecki one more... Are you using the Studio driver from Nvidia? If you aren't, give that a try in addition to the above.

I'm suggesting all those things because they worked for me.

System 1:

Windows 10
i9-10850K 10 Core
128.0G RAM
Nvidia RTX 3060 Studio driver [most likely latest]
Resolution        3840 x 2160 x 60 hertz
Video Memory 12G GDDR5

System 2:

Lenovo Yoga 720
Core i7-7700 2.8Ghz quad core, 8 logical

Intel HD 630 gpu 1G vram
Nvidia GTX 1050 gpu 2G vram

Kimberly-Durecki wrote on 5/19/2020, 8:06 PM

@Kimberly-Durecki not just the "nvidia driver" but specifically the nvidia "studio" driver. It's reported to be more stable for VP use than the game driver.

For example, this is the download for my GTX 1050 https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/results/159680/

Note the headline on the page

Thank you I will download that Michael. Just downloaded it and it said it was not compatible with this version of windows and the graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware.

Version:

Release Date:

Thu Apr 16, 2020

Operating System:

Windows 10 64-bit

English (US)

I am using windows 10 64 bit also.

Kimberly.

Same graphics card as yours. Driver should be OK. You did download 64bit version not 32 bit version?

When you get to installing go for the 'clean' option. You only need the driver, avoid 'experience'.
