Cannot Open Video Recorded with HEVC

corey-g wrote on 1/17/2019, 4:44 PM

Hello,

I tried to open up a video I recorded to edit it and every time I try it seems to crash. I've tried opening it multiple times now thinking maybe it was just a one-time thing, but it does it every single time. I played the video with a media player and it isn't corrupt because it opened and played fine.

If anyone can help, I appreciate it. I attached the crash file information down below:

This is the information they would need to see to file a bug report:

If this is a Shadowplay file, best to forget it and start over here:

There you go -- Vegas needs Constant frame rate. If you want to use Bandicam you will need to change that.

Your existing file, you can re-encode in Handbrake, or rewrap in ffmpeg if you are comfortable with a command line.

Thanks. I found the option to change it to CBR. I'll test it out and see how my videos work in the future. I'll convert this video to an MP4. Thanks for the help again!

Corey,

Constant Frame Rate (CFR) is not Constant Bit Rate (CBR).

The only thing CBR will do for you is cause bigger files.

Okay, thank you for the clarification. I did find the correct setting. I appreciate the help.

If you have found good settings for Bandicam, please post them here. It will help our user base.

Thanks Corey!

You can experiment with higher capture Bitrates, as long as they don't choke your playback. Maybe 12-16 Mbps?

For sure! I kept it low to make sure everything ran smoothly. It seems to have fixed the issue. Thanks for your help!
