cant open VMS16 vf project in VMS 17

roger-baker wrote on 1/30/2021, 9:36 AM

I have just upgraded to VMS17 Platinium and when I try to load a movie project I created in VMS16 I get an error message after approx 60% loaded saying "An error occurred while loading the project file (filename.vf.) The application does not support this file type.

this file loads OK in VMS16

I have created a nw movie in VMS17 and it reloads OK

I am running the latest build 204 and PC OS is Win 10

What file is at the point where you get the error? Follow these directions, please.

The Mediainfo to source file of your project... (.MP4 / .MOV / .MXF / etc)

The .VF is only project.

Hello set

this is a large project containing approx 400 files of mp4, mov, avi and mp3 files

is there a way to capture the info of these without having to trawl each and every file?

the key issue I have is v16 loads up ok but v17 doesn’t

@roger-baker
Working on the same machine that hold all the sources it might not be a problem to load made projectfiles from 16 to 17 unless you used in 16 things ( effects, transitions, mediagenerators) that are not available in your new version.
You can also try to open both versions and copy all the time line events from VMS 16 together to an empty VMS 17 to past there.
