Change default presets?

Effexer wrote on 11/11/2022, 8:01 AM

Is there any way to change what the default profile for a preset is? For example, let's say that when I insert a Text media, I want it to use the Onyx font with 14 font size, instead of the default Microsoft Sans Serif with 12. I tried saving over the default preset inside Vegas, but that doesn't work.
Does anyone know where the actual file for the preset is located too? Maybe this could be solved by just directly changing it.

The Default presets are just that; they can't be altered.

Make your changes, give your preset a new name, and save it as "something."

Then, if you wish to have it show up automatically, give the Project a unique name and reopen that project each time you wish to use it.

There has to be a way to change them. I can already change the default font by changing the file found at
"C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 20.0\OFX Video Plug-Ins\TitlesAndText.ofx.bundle\Contents\Resources\TitlesAndText.xml"

I just need to know a way to change it further, as of now I can't seem to modify things like color or shadow, just the font..

To be clear, you can do all of that and much more -- you just cannot name a new fx preset as "Default" by any practical means. Welcome to the forums and best of luck!

Thanks. But yeah, I just want to know how to change the Default preset. I'm always using a specific Font/Color when I'm editing my videos, so not having to click to change the preset every time I create a new text media would save a lot of time.

@Effexer Modifying xml files is tricky, and is frought with problems. Broadcasting where these files are located will potentially cause many problems for 'would be' dabblers. Best leave them alone.

Write a script that adds the text box and then changes the font and color.

@Effexer
You might lose this time again if you have to adjust your changes (I hope you still know all of them) with every new update.
I think the way @Musicvid suggested is a good one.
