Two things:

  • The FX tab on the track headers will do what you want. Effects can be applied at the media, track, event, or output (preview) level. It matters, but you'll learn through experience.

  • When you Split an event, you actually create two intact copies. To heal the split, delete one event and drag the other one out to its full length.

Using Vegas 16. I've trimmed a clip using "S" into four Events and I've set the transitions I want between the events.

@steve-a - So, you have Transitions between each Event. I’m guessing you’d like to keep those transitions in place? Yes? @Musicvid Is correct in how to Heal Splits and where to apply a Timeline FX.

Now I'd like to apply an Fx effect (Twixtor) to the entire timelilne, rather than to each evenrt separately.

@steve-a - I wasn’t aware I could apply TWIXTOR to whole T/L to affect Transitions? I’ve learnt and always/only used it at Event Level and only then by creating Subclips? I’ll go check.

Is there a way to do that?

@steve-a - IF I’m correct I’d use a Nested Timeline.

Grazie,

Yes, I'd like to keep the transition.

Yes, Twixtor works fine across the whole timeline, as Musicvid described. I did at 3-hr rendor tonight that generated 3 min of slooowed video (33%) and it came out beautifully.

Haven't look at Nested Timelines yet with Vegas. But not sure why I need more than what I'm doing now. I'm happy with the results of just cutting out from the timeline what I don't want and then dropping Twixtor into the track header to slow the rest.

@steve-a - Erm? I just tested your approach and I can't retain the Transitions. I've needed to do the Nested approach.

I don't have Twixtor so it was a "lucky oversight. "
