@kamhunt

Which Vegas version?

Which render template?

Hey. It's Vegas 17 and I always start with a template and adjust it. I mainly use Sony HEVC MP4 template and try to max out the bitrate. I want the absolute best image Vegas can produce. Thanks for asking

@kamhunt

I'm still looking for that Sony HEVC render template, but, if you're getting a maximum bit rate in the Magix HEVC render template of 240,000,000 bps, you're probably bumping up against an architectural limitation of the HEVC encoder. Or, at least the implementation of Vegas 17.

When I get a second I will send a screenshot. I want the max but I'm not getting the max.

1. I pick the above

2. I pick 700,000,000

3. When I go to another menu and then comeback, that 700,000,000 defaults to 240,000,000

My question is why

As john_dennis correctly mentioned above, the HEVC standard does not allow for higher bitrates than 240 Mbit/s. The only issue in Vegas Pro is it falsely displays higher settings which are not supported by the standard itself.

Ah ok. I just read his response! Ha. I didn't see it. Do you know the highest bitrate you can use for mp4 in Vegas? I'm just not satisfied with the rendering. I love my preview image in the program but when it renders... You lose something

If you mean MP4 with AVC H.264 encoding your results are not expected to be better. HEVC is the most efficient codec offered in Vegas Pro.

You may need to render to a lossless video type instead if you're not satisfied. Or try using Voukoder with a low CR factor (below 18).

Show us, in actual screenshots, what you are not satisfied with. It's not bitrate, I promise you.
