I'm trying to import some video into Movie Studio 13 Platinum (build 932, 64-bit).

The footage was recorded using OBS. I can import some footage that was recorded on Friday, but not on footage that I recorded yesterday or today. It just gives an error: "Warning: An error occurred while opening one or more files. The file is most likely corrupted or of an unknown format".

The footage plays fine in VLC, but doesn't have audio in WMP.

So far I've tried:
* Putting it through Handbrake
* Installing Quicktime 7.7.6 (build1680.95.31)
* Un-installing and Re-installing Movie Studio

Any help or suggestions that you can offer would be much appreciated.

Demux your video and mp3 audio in AVIDemux first.

That worked! And it lead me to a proper solution. I changed the OBS audio codec to be AAC and not MP3, and I managed to get the file importing without having to demux the audio.

Thanks a million for all of your help, I have been struggling with this all day!

By way of explanation, AAC is by far the most common audio used with MP4/AVC video.

Support for other combinations is very spotty.

That makes sense. I'll see if I can export my commentary (which I record separately) in AAC, so all of the audio tracks match up.

I'm facing a similar issue - .mov file that says to be corrupted when adding to vegas (and doesn't play audio in VLC). But i'm not that advanced to try everything that you talked about here. I got media info and it shows there are 2 audio channels but I have no idea how to access those or get the file to vegas to actually edit it... Help please :)
