Difference between Magix HEVC and that of Handbreak?

So I've had to (and still have) a lot of trans-coding of my 1080I from my old Canon Vixia and my old Nikon files. Using hand brake to do this is very, very fast using the HEVC in Handbrake and I can use those files in VP16 with no problems. However the HEVC from Vegas requires that I use proxies to get any kind of performance for editing. I understand this will be a feature of 17, but does anyone know why one flavor of HEVC would work and the other not?

I don't know the exact info of both HEVC, but with me "normal" HEVC files ( f.i.FHD 50p 10-15 Mbps bitrate) gives no problems with my VPro 16 , but when I use 4K HEVC 50p 80 Mbps bitrate I need proxies to work with.
In my case it is a combination of dimensions and bitrate and that looks logic to me, because bigger pictures and higher bitrate is more asking to decode and encode as smaller and lower.

HEVC is not needed for 1080i source. Suggest sticking with x264.

J-V - Just tired different MPS and yes keeping the data at a lessor amount made a difference. Musicvid, yes that is apparent now. Thanks to both for the input.
