Editing Appreciation and disection

First there is this.

This is one of the best music videos I've ever seen. It's not perfect, but it's close and was obviously a labor of love.

And this is a critique for the editing in Bohemian Rhapsody

I haven't seen the movie but the scene that is critiqued is a nightmare. Having worked with enough footage now that I can appreciate not having everything I need to create something good and have to try and cobble together something OK. What is a better sign of good editing? Making something good better, or making something horrible passable. I guess both, but usually the latter isn't appreciated.

It is interesting about editing because good editing goes unnoticed. You aren't really aware of the cuts because each cut is fulfilling your interest and so you don't notice it. And it is funny with editing software, you can't really tell which editing program was used, so it all becomes kind of crazy. With that said, a scene I like for editing is the final scene from The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Here there is a use of tempo to heighten the intensity of the final battle and I can't imagine it edited any other way. Also the shower scene from Psycho is pretty amazing, but that's a bit gruesome too.

I always loved this action scene, especially after he bites him, derivative of terminator 2 but i still love the sequence.
