After changing the settings, my video ended up being 4096x2160, but there were still black bars on the top and the bottom. I was initially asking how to increase the size to match the original source, but do you now know how I can utilize a full frame 4096x2160 without having black bars on the top and bottom like the original video?

Post your MediaInfo Properties for your source.

4096x2160 is a different ASPECT than 3840x2160. Your camera shoots either. That means black bars if you put it in the wrong rectangle.....

Handbrake and Vegas wouldn't both be getting that wrong.........

Other options for putting footage in the wrong rectangle are cropping, stretching (don't go there), zooming (nor there either), and adjusting the screen (display) aspect to match the footage (preferred).

Since my TV is UHD (3840x2160) and I don't display my work in theaters where DCI 4K (4096x2160) is used, I would most likely crop horizontally in Vegas Pro to 3840x2160. I would avoid distorting the image to get rid of black bars.

It still might be useful to shoot at 4096x2160 even if all your output devices are UHD since you would have latitude in editing to move the 3840 crop box in Vegas to better frame the shot.

How do you play the video? On your monitor? What resolution is your monitor?

:). I have a new laptop, and I must have been tired when I posted this, but my resolution is 3840x2160. That explains a lot!.....
