Ok, I googled and looked on this forum but cannot understand any of the posts where it tells you how to set the format, how to change the bitrate etc. My learning curve was steep and I'm very impressed by the software. But as a newbie can someone explain to me or upload screenshots on how to find these thinks I cant find or even understand please? Oi I dont understand the advanced option and rendering. My MP$ is one and a half gig and i want to upload it to you tube even in SD format.

If it's for YouTube, there's no need to tweak any settings. Just go to Project/Render As and use the Sony AVC 1920x1080p30 Internet template.

As @Steve Grisetti suggests, start with the templates, which are bulletproof, and do your learning as you go. You will learn more by making good mistakes than by asking about it.

The YouTube make a movie doesn't work. It says the file size is too big.

I did but the solutions doesn't work. If I try the settings I see to get the file size small enough for YouTube or Gmail it says the file is too big.

I live in South Africa where data is not affordable enough to send the file size, even though I'm considered middle class here. The video is of me and a friend's trip to Belgium. Quite unusual for someone from from Africa to be able to travel to a first work country with an exchange rate that looses 80 percent of the value of money when going to a country paying in Euro. If I can get the project file to someone that can screenshot the settings to me it will be great if that person can help out.

Tweaking the bitrate isn't likely to change that. YouTube limits video length of uploads unless you've bought a premium subscription to their site.

How long is the video you're trying to load to YouTube?

uh, no. You don't need to pay for anything to upload longer than 15min videos to youtube; https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/71673 - basically just verify the account and you're good to go.

I know I have not paid for anything in youtube and I ~regularly upload 1-2h videos

edit: cleaned the url a bit, it had some useless bits in it
