Whether using Vegas Pro 14 or 15, I unable to view my project either in Vegas or on another screen. I am able to view previous large projects just fine. My projects consist mainly of jpegs with a few videos no more than one minute long. All I hear is the audio portion of the project.
i have rendered it and then burned a DVD only to find the screen is black but the audio plays just fine. I tried removing some videos, but that had no effect.

However, there are limits with certain file formats, disk allocation tables, codec architecture, and resource allocations that can make it seem that way.
In order to help you determine what's at play, post MediaInfo (it's a utility) for your big stills and video clips, and read this thread in its entirety.

You may want to batch recode/rescale your stills if they are hogging resources.
