Issue with importing media in new project

Andrw wrote on 6/9/2020, 6:32 AM

Hi everyone, this is my first post and I want to ask You for help. I have bought brand new Vegas Studio Platinuum 17 and instaled it ona my laptop Asus K56C with core i7 on Windows 10. Application opens correctly, and when I open Demo project included in application - it works perfectly, but when I want to set my own project and click to import media application turns off immedietly and npothing helps. Even Magix support team. Maybe it is easy to solve, maybe somebody met this problem and can help, please advice. Best regards Andrw

If you've got the off-the-shelf Asus K56c, you only have 4 gigs of RAM. If you're going to edit video, it might be worth spending a few dollars to replace that with its max load, which according to the online specs is 8 gig.

You should also go to the nVidia web site and download the GeForce experience software to ensure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card. That alone solves a lot more of these issues than you'd expect!

That said, where is the video you are trying to edit coming from? A camcorder? A phone? Another source? If things work fine with the demo media but the program crashes with yours, that's the first thing I'd look into.

Open one of your video clips in the free download MediaInfo. In MediaInfo, set View to Text and then copy the text from this report and paste it to this forum. Once we know the specs of this challenging video we'll better be able to advise you and troubleshoot your issues.

@Andrw  Although your computer is not so strong ( only two cores) it should be possible to use VMS 17 Pl for the files you showed. Maybe for the first file you have to set in Preferences / Deprecated Features that you can use the Quicktime plugin.

The second file must be possible and is possible on my installation. Maybe you can publish here the link to a small file of the same source, so we are able to download and test this on our installation. Put it on a service where we can download the original file, like Dropbox.

Hi

I received the instruction from MAGIX Support, which works for my mp4 files. It goes like this: "pressing "shift" key go to options/preferences and find So4, plugin and turn it off.

It helped with mp4, mov is not opening but it doesn't crash application any more.

3POINT wrote on 6/10/2020, 3:43 AM

Enabling QuickTime plugin in deprecated features just enables the possibility to render with QuickTime in the advanced rendering options and has nothing to do with the import of mov.files, by my knowledge.

Hi Theo, thank you for this tip.I would do this but I am not familiar with Vegas yet (I am sound engineer familiar with Pro Tools since 2005). If I could ask you to write step by stem how to enable this plugin it would be greate!
