iZotope RX Elements 8 Plugins Do Not work in Vegas Pro 18

Videoimpressions0622 wrote on 7/29/2021, 4:44 PM

I don't remember my last usage, but they DO show up in the Audio Event FX area. However, when dragged on top of an audio clip any of the RX 8 Elements plug-ins only have a Bypass box at the bottom of the FX controls and no other selection boxes. If I run the iZotope RX 8 Audio Editor Standalone version, I can import a rendered WAV file and the Preview, Bypass, Compare and Render boxes all are there at the bottom of the FX controls as they should be. All of the VSTs are registered and the iZotope Product Portal confirms that RX 8 Elements is installed on my PC and authorized. Using RX 8 Elements as plugins will save valuable time and effort of course, so does anyone know what the problem may be?

Thanks in advance. I also am considering upgrading to RX 8 Standard for only 99 bucks, but need to make my decision within 2 days, as the sale ends at the end of the month, so please HELP!!

RX Standard user here- they are working properly in Vegas.

If you want to modify the waveform, use them within RX or software like Soundforge. Vegas applies them at an Fx level.

Thanks for the quick response, but I am not following you. I explained to the best of my ability what is occurring. I know that I can use the iZotope RX 8 Audio Editor Standalone version, but this involves creating an intermediate WAV file. I do not see how to access the RX 8 plugins within Soundforge as the selected audio editor in Vegas Pro. Apparently you are saying that even though the RX 8 plugins within Vegas Pro are visible and drag-and-drop into an audio clip can be done, apparently no changes then can be made to the clip by the RX 8 plugin? I still am confused? Would you kindly elaborate? Thanks!

Are you conflating two versions of the same product?

RX8 Element has four basic presets; it does not accept RX8 Standard plugins afaik.

Hi VideoImpressions, if you have SoundForge, you can go to Vegas Pro and then tools/audio open in audio editor. In Soundforge you can apply VSTs (as in Vegas) or apply them directly to the waveform. For example, select a click on the timeline and then use a declick VST to render and get rid of it.
I tested Soundforge and RX8 Elements a few months ago, but since uninstalled Soundforge so I can't fully explain each step of the process.

I can demonstrate editing within Vegas Pro. You can go to an event (clip on the timeline) and click Fx and select VST. You can preview it and toggle it on and off. For some, like declick, it's preferable to apply it manually to each occurence of a click rather than have it automatically apply to an entire event. The only way I see to do that in Vegas is to chop up a longer event into many small events (for each click).

That's not ideal so I just use RX as the external editor and bounce an individual event's audio, or the finished audio for normalization, to RX. You can do this in Soundforge using its inbuilt tools or third party VSTs like RX Elements or Standard or Advanced provides.

As far as what plugins RX Elements supports, it seems to load whatever you own. I used it with a couple of TDR plugins as it lacked a compressor. Look for plug-in on the right bottom and point it to your VSTs.

[also the answer I gave you on Facebook was more complete than my initial response here, but I don't think you saw that]

Yes, that it what occurs with RX plugins within Vegas Pro - and has done since I started with RX4 and now on RX7 Adv.

Within Vegas Pro, RX plugins do not offer the Preview and Compare options - it has always been thus.

I get it now...

RogerS:

..."so I just use RX as the external editor"...

This appears the way to use iZotope in Vegas Pro! I tested it and it looks like this should work for my purposes. Thanks to all of you for the quick responses. Now to order RX 8 Standard at the special price!!

@Videoimpressions0622  ... it would be a polite response to credit @RogerS with 'The Solution' as it was he who provided the solution - a solution that I completely agree with. And I use both Sound Forge Pro and RX Adv as they are both excellent for different audio editing purposes.
