Magic Yuv and avi codec question

wayne-severson wrote on 7/27/2019, 6:48 AM

I'm on a new computer, after rendering with Magic Yuv the video wont play, and if I try import it to Vegas, Vegas become unresponsive and crashed. (this did not happen on the old computer) I was using version 2.1, which for test in uninstalled an went to 2.0 since that was known to work on the old computer. When trying to play the video now I get a missing codec message.

So, I'm mildly confused thinking the Magic Yuv is a codec. Is it as simple and finding a codec? If so what is recommended?

If not, what else might I try?

Thanks, but I have the downloads, what I'm saying is when I use the codec for rendering, the rendered video wont play, nor load into Vegas

You have the codec, you can render in Vegas, and the rendered file won't open in Vegas?

Yes that is correct.

Suggestions:

1) post MEDIA INFO using mediainfo tool + tell us exactly which Magic YUV render type you used.

2) Rename path and file without spaces (unlikely, but you never know)

3) Render different Magic YUV file type

4) Upload a short rendered clip to dropbox for us to test.

5) Ask on the MagicYUV forum

I think usually if Vegas Pro cannot read a video file it would say "Could not determin video stream". But in your case it outputs the correct video stream properties.

So it looks like Vegas Pro actually reads your video fine but the problem is somewhere else.

Works here without issue (v2.0) using same 422 subsampling (M8Y2) in V14 and V16. I'd suggest removing the codec and then re-installing.

Dollars to donuts it is your "M" Drive.

In order to handle a file that big (>4GB), the drive partition must be formatted NTFS, not FAT32.

If that is the case, you probably cannot save the file by transferring it to a different drive. It must be re-created.

It's working now, though I can't be certain why or why it didn't. They still won't play in windows media player, they would on the old computer but without sound. It's ok I don't need them to. I would be nice to understand why.

Thanks for all your help and input!
