Match Output Aspect

james-m wrote on 1/25/2018, 3:37 AM

I using Vegas 14 Pro. I'm quite new. One of my first projects I picked a project resolution that wasn't what I want in the end. Now, when I change it, it seems the "Match Output Aspect" in the Pan/Crop window doesn't work as I expect. I expect it to match the new project's aspect ratio (4:3). However, it matches the source video's aspect ratio (16:9).

When I start a new project with the desired resolution (aspect ratio 4:3) and do the "Match Output Aspect," I get the expected results. I don't want to have to redo a lot of the work again in a new project though.

Any insight to what I'm doing wrong would be much appreciated.

Thanks Cornico. However, I don't quite understand your answer.

"if you change during your edit the project size, you have to change the Vegas own stuff used as Medias Generators, Text a.s.o."

Can you explain how to "change the Vegas own stuff used as Medias Generators"?

There is a script that comes with Vegas, it's called "Resize Generated Media".

In the new project by deleting and make new .
Picture 1 is old Media in New Project
Picture 2 is new Media in New Project, look to the difference in format of the Generated Media.

Hi Cornico, I still don't understand what you're trying to say. What do I delete in the new project? What do I make new? I mentioned that I could start over with a new project, but I don't want to do all the work over I had done in my first project. I appreciate your willingness to help, but your messages don't make sense to me.

Thanks. I tried this, and it still doesn't work as I expect. The match source aspect doesn't change the aspect to the source's aspect ratio.

You can crop you can stretch, you can have borders.

No fourth option, sorry to say.
