Mixing and editing different codecs within the same project in VP 15

Hi All,

I'm relatively new to video editing. I record XAVC S HD files with a Sony HDR-CX900E handycam. A friend of mine has a Canon XF105 recording in the MPEG-2 Long GOP codec. We are planning to use both cameras next weekend to record a live music performance.

My question is if it's possible to load and edit files of both codecs into the same project/timeline in VP 15? For that matter, would it be possible also to work in parallell with a third codec e.g. using a Go Pro camera?

Best Regards,

Michael

it is possible to mix codecs, it becomes more of an issue if you mix formats (such as progressive and interlaced).

Ok, thanks! Shooting in real time (in XAVC S and MPEG-2 Long GOP) what considerations should be taken regarding different formats? Any recommendations?

As long as the frame rates are the same, you should be good to go.

As of VP15 build 261, disabling so4compoundplug.dll will still probably improve playback performance of XAVC-S. See this comment.
