MOV files not loading

Vegas 17 won't load mov. files. I have installed quicktime and also in the Vegas preferences changed the Deprecated Features to enable the quicktime plugin. Still it won't work. I think it may have something to do with Quicktime because when I open quicktime it just sits there and says "loading". I've reinstalled quicktime but I come up with the same thing. Any suggestions? Thanks

Yes. I suggest you post the file properties.

Many advances have been made since the legacy 32 bit Quicktime decoders were dropped, and even since your Vegas Pro 17 reached its end of development in 2020. Such support may not be possible at all, but we'll know when you post this information:

I recognize you from teevee!

@Roger Bansemer Hi, did you install the correct Quicktime, mine's QuickTime 7.7.9 , I've got Windows 10,

https://support.apple.com/en_GB/downloads/quicktime

I've just been reading about not launching but loads of different replies, one saying it's trying to connect to a server that no longer exists, sorry dunno,

I've installed the QuickTimeinstaller.exe which I believe is what I need. I open it and it's listed as QuickTime Player v 7.7.9. I've uninstalled and reinstalled but when I open it, below the splash screen it just says "loading" but never stops. I guess this is off topic but I need to use a few mov files in Vegas and can't even open them to convert them to something else.

I'll download the MediaInfo program and will use it if I can't resolve this soon.
And yes, we use Vegas for our TV show.

@Roger Bansemer 👍 Look at the View tab at he top of MediaInfo, choose Text will give all details,

if you want you can download Handbrake & convert your files, https://handbrake.fr/

For best response here, I recommend that you do that first.

"...I need to use a few mov files in Vegas and can't even open them to convert them to something else."

If you just want to encode them to something else and move on with your project without solving the Quicktime issue, the Shutter Encoder offers may options for file types that Vegas 17 may like better.

I've spent so much time trying to get quicktime to work I've given up and it's just not worth the effort. I have however converted my mov files to a usable format. Thanks everyone for commenting and giving me a hand at this. It's appreciated.

@Roger Bansemer can you possibly supply a small sample of the problematic mov file to the cloud?

i had the same problem but I found this on another post on the forum and this did the trick. See below. Now mov-files and Quicktime rendering is available for me in Vegas Pro 18:

========================

try going to C:\Users\'your name'\AppData\Local\VEGAS Pro\19.0, delete all those, Vegas will take a bit of time to load next time but it will rebuild all those files, I do this sometimes if a plugin doesn't show, hopefully it will reload whatever is stopping you importing this file,
