Movie Studio 17.0 Platinum will not let me import MP4 Files

MikeT96 wrote on 5/9/2020, 10:15 PM

I just purchased and installed the Vegas Movie Studio 17.0 Platinum today. In my projects I can insert pictures but I can not insert my movie files? Not even my captures I recorded on my own PC. Anytime I try to drag a video file it says "The activation code is incorrect. Please make sure it has been entered correctly or contact the MAGIX customer service: www.support.magix.net

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and ensured to enter the correct serial number. Looking for guidance on what I need to do. Never had this issue in the past with previous Vegas movie studios programs...

That is a registration problem that we can't help you with here at the Vegas support forum, regardless of how you name your topic title.

If you purchased your software title from someone other than Magix, contact the seller first.

A strange one. This post might help https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-15-incorrect-activation-code--112097/ but it possibly indicates something unusual with your installation.

Barf, I'm having the exact same issue. I tried the being 40000 % sure about the entry as per your link, Eric. Thank you! Sent an email to Magix, lets hope....Its been a long many years since I have posted amongst the Vegas family...its good to be back!

I know this is very late to the game but this thread showed up in my search results when with this exact issue. Turns out my network protection was blocking some parts of VEGAS 17 pro from talking right to their servers to activate mp4 codecs when I would import the video. This was after a complete wipe and reinstall of Windows 10. It worked after I turned off the network protection software during the file import. Then it was able to register all the codecs with out issue. Hopefully this helps others. down the road

SOLUTION: (this worked for me so I just wanted to share)

In my case there was a space in front of the email address I used to activate the program.
Start the program and go to the top bar -> Help -> Deactivate the Software on this PC... -> Close the program -> Start it again -> Remove space in front of email address -> Activate

Hope this helps. :)
