.mp4 doesn't import correctly, only distorted audio track

SmolJoltik wrote on 1/3/2019, 3:28 PM

I'm using the latest version of Vegas Pro 16. This is the only problem I have come across so far. When I import a video I recorded in OBS, it works just fine. But when I import an intro or outro I rendered in Blender, this problem occurs. It only imports an audio track, no video track, and the audio is just a screeching sound. The video created in OBS works fine. When I try viewing any of them in my desktop's default video player, they look fine, but the Blender videos just work work in Vegas Pro. I need to know if there's something wrong with Vegas Pro, my computer, or the video files. Thank you for your time.

What render settings in Blender do you use to render the MP4?

(Currently I'm a very beginner level of Blender - still learning - but perhaps I can try simulate your render settings to test).

The other alternate workflow you can try is, instead of rendering to MP4, you can render it as PNG sequences, and export the audio as WAV. Then in Vegas Pro, import as still image sequences.

I rendered it as an FFmpeg video, using the MPEG-4 container and the H.264 encoder settings. I managed to get the clips working by converting them. I think it has to do with the encoding.

Good guess, but we'll never know without those file properties...

What problem? I've already forgotten that you exist.

Hi SmolJoltik, You may have already solved the problem and changed your topic saying that problem solved, but as per for forum notes, or reference to other users, I as mod here restore your original topic.

What Audio codec are you using ? To make sure a wide-compatible, please choose AAC. I didn't test other codecs here, but following the settings from Vegas Pro rendering of MP4, I noticed the audio should be AAC to accompany video codec MPEG4 H.264

I tried experimenting on my own (and quick learning the Blender as well), and, yes, you can select the video codec by itself and audio codec also by itself.

Without knowing each settings from original poster here ( @SmolJoltik ) or probably upload the sample render for testing purpose, we may not be able to know the specific issue. So, I only able to give these tips.
