MP4's and various Video Clips not viewable - Turned Green & Scrambled

Doug-Church wrote on 11/11/2021, 10:32 AM

I recently did the latest update and suddenly all of my footage in my current project is scrambled and green, like its loaded but the codec can't display it? I had this problem before where certain files wouldnt play and found a fix where you rename a folder inside the FileIO folder. Tried that this time and it did not work. Tried uninstalling all previeous versions and starting from scratch, the video files are still scrambled. Using a ASUS Gaming laptop 1 year old. Anyone have the same issue or know of a fix. I want to get back to editing but can't until I find a fix or get some help finding an older version or something.. Thank you anyone who can help, I'm sure this is just some setting on my system.

First try resetting that program by exactly following this tutorial.

Also tell us what program and buildnumber you are using,

We don't know what the "various files" are until you tell us.

Chances are your new version is using a different decoder. We can help with that. In the meantime, don't try any more heroics, and above all, don't install any codec "packs."

I figured out the Fix and posted a video:

Figured it was something to do with the .dll file being used to decode the media. Hope this helps if anyone else has the same problem.

Glad you found it on your own. This fix was posted in 2017.
