Need help editing audio - Vegas Pro 14

Hi everyone, I have done an initial google search to try and find a solution to my 'problem' but with no luck (unless I am misunderstanding things).

I edit gaming videos for my YouTube channel but something I have suffered with (more than other areas) is my audio.

The way I hear things when they are live/being recorded, is nothing like the outcome file. Things are too quiet or too loud etc.

I am using multiple tracks which is a step forward in the right direction and I can adjust the levels to make things louder or quieter to manually balance the audio.

Where I truly suffer, is when I get excitable, or scream abnoxiously down my microphone - creating a huge spike in volume.

How do I manage these spikes of volume? I see the 'bigger' YouTubers yell and scream and yet my ears aren't bleeding.

What features should I be using to balance the audio correctly?

Cheers.

Haha great post.

Use the track compressor.

Load a sample to Drive or Dropbox if you would like more suggestions.
