No audio after rendering

Zdoggz99 wrote on 12/18/2021, 1:59 PM

I'm using Vegas 18 on windows 10

For the past week, every other render from Vegas has had no audio. I've tried using multiple templates, making sure that each one actually is meant to render audio. Nothing is muted, and the templates are set to include audio. I will attempt multiple renders on the same template, sometimes I get audio, other times I don't. It's extremely inconsistent. I've wiped my hard drive and started over, so it's a fresh windows and Vegas install. I've also tried Vegas 19 with the same issue. The format I'm trying to render to as well as the video's I'm editing are both MP4s

Any and all help is appreciated, the internet has failed me

MP4 doesn't say much, there can be many things in it.
Use Mediainfo - it is free - and copy the text of the tree structure here.
https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/
Screenshots of your project- and render settings are also helpful.
What build number of Vegas Pro 18 are you using?

Here are the render & project settings that I'm using I've been able to render the past couple of videos successfully but that's right after 3 fails that I didn't overwrote with the working ones, so as soon as I have another issue, I'll post the MediaInfo here as well. I'm using Vegas 18 Build 373 on Windows 10

rraud wrote on 12/18/2021, 3:11 PM

Confirm "Include audio" is enabled in the 'Render as' audio parameters.

Zdoggz99 wrote on 12/18/2021, 3:26 PM

The box is checked as per my above screenshots. That would not create the issue only sometimes, but constantly. My issue is that it is inconsistent and seemingly random

The latest version is 527 - is there a reason why you haven't installed the last three free updates?
Maybe there was a bug somewhere in your version that was fixed in the following ones.

Zdoggz99 wrote on 12/18/2021, 3:43 PM

I would agree with you, however I've also had the same issue in Vegas 19. So, I'm honestly not sure what could be causing it since it's consistently inconsistent between versions

walter-i. wrote on 12/18/2021, 4:15 PM

When I look at how many bug fixes there have been between these versions, I wouldn't think twice.
Of course, your particular bug may not get fixed - but if you don't try, you've already lost.

After another couple renders, I got another with no audio. I've run it through MediaInfo as requested and here are the results: Hope this reveals something...

I dragged the rendered MP4 into the timeline to see if Vegas would pick up anything, there was an audio track, but flat lines, so no audio. Screenshot of this below:

Sure enough, exactly as I thought, same issue. I knew that there would be, as I said before, the issue persists between versions of Vegas 18 + 19, So I don't know how just switching a build number that's between 2 failing versions would've fixed it. Any chance you're accidentally muting your audio and forget to unmute it when rendering?

128.0G RAM
Nvidia RTX 3060 Studio driver [most likely latest]

Lenovo Yoga 720
Core i7-7700 2.8Ghz quad core, 8 logical
16G ram
Intel HD 630 gpu 1G vram
Nvidia GTX 1050 gpu 2G vram

Nope, Never touch the mute button. I check constantly that there's audio while I'm scrubbing the footage

Yelandkeil wrote on 12/19/2021, 1:28 PM

VEGAS 18/19 have both nothing to do with your problem - they rendered the correct audio in your videos - there's only no signal in the audio channels:

Go into your system and check everything with relation to your audio hardware and driver, e.g. default output? driver version?

Again, it's not VEGAS' problem!

Just a highlight for you - Weeks ago I updated a newer driver from Microsoft for my ALC1200.

Everything seemed right at the beginning, but one day I noticed my LFE vanished - the signal was there yet I couldn't hear.

Back to the Realtek 6.0.9205.1, problems gone.

Thank you so much! That is the most useful answer I've gotten! After a while of messing with Vegas I started to assume it was a driver issue but after updating my drivers nothing changed. However, having confirmation that the issue is not in Vegas helps tremendously and I deeply appreciate you helping me narrow it down.

Zdoggz99 wrote on 1/4/2022, 10:00 AM

Okay, so after a couple weeks of testing and trying different driver versions and downgrading windows, I'm still having the issue. I've downgraded the drivers and had absolutely no luck at all with fixing the issue. Is there anything specific I could try? I have an AMD Ryzen 9 3900 Processor and Nvidia GeForce GT 1030 GPU.

All drivers are currently updated since downgrading didn't fix the issue. I also have the latest version of windows 10

@Zdoggz99, I asked our tech support guys to look into this to see if they have any known issues here and to set you up with a tech support ticket. They are unable to find your registration under the email address you've used to register for this forum. They find an account for you but it has no registered versions on it. You must have used a different email address to register your copy of VEGAS Pro 18. Or perhaps you have a Steam version. They were also perplexed to learn that you haven't updated to the most recent version of version 18. That should be your first step. Then, please contact them and let them know the email address you've used to register your product or send a screen shot of your Steam library so they can set up a ticket and start looking into this for you. They are ready to help.

Zdoggz99 wrote on 1/6/2022, 1:03 PM

Attached is the screenshot of my library. The Steam name is Pilotsteve321

I'm now having an issue where when I attempt to render, It's telling me that My system is low on memory (I have 64GB of RAM and haven't had issues prior to updating to the newest version)

gary-rebholz wrote on 1/6/2022, 1:59 PM

OK, best thing to do is set up a ticket with our tech support guys. Maybe there's something that's somehow unique to the Steam version. Hopefully other guys here will also have more ideas.

Longshot as Realtek audio drivers were mentioned earlier. For last year, frequently when I try to change laptop speaker volume using the speaker icon on taskbar, it flashes nonstop between some volume and "x" i.e. no sound. During this there is no sound from speaker. I never tried rendering in Vegas while this is happening, but OP maybe check your speaker icon on Win taskbar isn't doing something crazy.

Zdoggz99 wrote on 1/11/2022, 10:05 AM

I've sent in a support request last Thursday and haven't heard back yet...

Edit: I submitted another support ticket, but I've realized I never received the confirmation email from when I submitted it, but I'm getting the emails when this forum is replied to.

Are there audio waveforms showing in your project audio track? Is it unmuted? Will you please provide MediaInfo for a SOURCE file that causes the problem, not the render? Since you say the problem is intermittent, what other audio applications do you have running; many are known to hijack the audio drivers from Vegas. Voicemeeter is one such example.

Zdoggz99 wrote on 1/11/2022, 1:15 PM

Waveforms show before rendering and I can hear audio just fine. After a failed render the audio waveforms are not longer present. Below is the requested MediaInfo of an unedited and unrendered MP4
