No sound even though it shows there should be

I double checked my volume mixer and vegas pro has sound up as high as all of my other programs. When I play the video in vegas pro it shows the audio levels going up and down to show that sound should be happening. I went into preferences > audio device, then selected windows classic wave driver and made sure that all my default playback devices were the correct audio output which I double checked. When that still didn't work I plugged my headphones into another audio source and switched everything to that but it still didn't work. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I have used sony vegas editing software for many years now, and I took a week off of it then came back and it just doesn't work with sound. I didn't change any settings so I am very confused.

Is Bose 700 headphones a driver or hardware?

A friend's Dell PC tends to lose audio when HPs are plugged in, requiring a restart with the HPs plugged in.

My Dell XPS laptop with a Waves audio utility has a pop-up to activate HPs

These headphones work just fine for every other program I use, and the Bose 700 headphones are just the brand and model of the headphones I use with the computer.

  • Download the driver from the PC/motherboard manufacturers web site or from Realtek.
  • Report.

Through trying to update the realtek hardware it uninstalled but continuously failed to reinstall, now my audio still works on everything else, but it is under "Headphones (High Definition Audio Device)" which is now my default device and the driver is updated to the most recent version

  1. In Vegas Options->Preferences->Audio Device, select "Direct Sound Surround Mapper."
  2. Click Apply, then OK.
  3. Close Vegas. Close any other applications that might be hijacking your Realtek ASIO driver.
  4. Re-open Vegas. Any change?

Have you tried the Classic Wave driver device in "Options> Preferences> Audio device" If another app has hijacked the Sound Mapper device, Classic Wave driver may work.

Some folks like the ASIO-4-All universal Windows ASIO driver, which has been known to work when other devices will not

Re-check your Windows sound playback setting as well to confirm the device in VP is the one that is enabled in Windows sound settings.

With Realtek audio (I have it), Direct Sound Surround Mapper is the correct ASIO driver choice, and yes, it can be hijacked by other open applications. Voicemeeter, OBS, and Zoom are particularly bad at this and should always be kept closed when Vegas is in use.

The other odd thing is that even if I render it, then there is no audio either. Even if I make sure the audio settings for that clip are at the highest volume or near the highest volume

By exe file you mean the icon where you start the program?
