None of the files dropped on Vegas Pro could be opened. (4K video)

I'm unable to upload 4K videos to Vegas Pro 11. At first I tried HEVC codec with no luck, and then converted them to H264 codec using Avidemux. Still, however, the videos refuse to upload. Internet suggest using Handbrake, but I see no option for 4K quality in it, hence I can't use it. All .mp4 files from the same camera in lower quality work just fine, but 4K .mp4 videos do not. I do not want to lost quality in editing. Please help.

These are the stats for the original video:

And these are the stats for the video after being edited with Avidemux:

Neither of these open in Vegas Pro 11.

Modern codec; ancient Vegas....I foresee an upgrade in your future. :)

Which Vegas do you recommend me to get?

The current version is 15. There are deals in the wild on 14 (search).

Warning! Warning! Workaround Alert Follows!

You'll likely have some success with your media if you can get it converted to one of the Sony XAVC flavors. Run a trial of Catalyst Browse or Prepare. While I'm in favor of upgrading, I was able to open 100 Mbps XAVC from my Sony RX10 IV in Vegas Pro 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13. You'll have limited output options with older versions of Vegas Pro.

Disclaimer:

While I've used Catalyst Browse, I don't need it as part of my normal workflow so I don't know if it will accept your media.

I don't think you'll be opening 4k anything in Vegas 11.

I think if you close the scopes and disable resample it may playback even better.

I gave up on optimizing preview performance on that machine a long time ago.
