Note taking app with auto generated time code

Kaito22 wrote on 5/18/2019, 4:39 AM

Hello, I'd like a windows or web based app that I can type in notes while watching a live event so i know where things happen and the details. The timecodes could be based on time of day or a timer that you start when taking first notes. The idea is to watch the live event & take notes while recording video then go back and make a highlight video.

It sounds very simple but i can't seem to find right search terms to get good results. thanks πŸ˜€

Send yourself text or email messages.

Compile those using an Excel macro or whatever you want,

I don't know if this is what you want but scroll down this page and there are some logging and notetaking apps aimed at video.

I use a macro which inserts the current date and time when pressing "Windows + Enter" in whatever editing software (Windows Editor, Word, OpenOffice, etc., even the Vegas Pro titling tools accept it).

Feel free to download, unzip and install this AHK makro script. It works once the file "Insert_Time.exe" was executed.

I wanted something simple where I write note and it does the timecode just by pressing enter. Because i'm watching an internet stream and not recording with a camera there are no real time codes in recording, and it would be ideal for me to be able to make notes in relation to time since start, because actual time has no real relation to the video, other then helping me convert in my head to where in the video something is approximately

I tried using an irc client today

It does what I want but the time code is not ideal because it's telling me the actual tiime but when editing video all I know is the video is 3h10m long so an actual timer timecode that starts when broadcast starts would have been better. I don't have an ipad or tablet, preference is to use keyboard on windows computer

A Macro is something you use inside Excel or Word to change one thing into another.

Like "for instance" subtract 09:27:57 from all the numbers you have above.

These are self-teaching skills, not something we can show you.

thankyou😬, i did not understand what marco was sayingπŸ˜‚. I thought he meant i have to press windows + enter at beginning of each new entry😡. Can I just paste my irc log to windows editor and marco's script converts my times to timer code instead or do i need to be entering information into cells from start like in a real spreadsheet or the macro can not see my timecode☺️?

it sounds good as maybe i start watching broadcast 35minutes after beginning so timer 00.00 still needs to be changed if i had timer timecode as i wanted πŸ˜€

Did you try the macro I linked above?
