Now I remember why I stopped using VMS

I have a bunch of home movies I really just want to convert from .m2ts to MP4. But I find the nothing in default templates close to what I want. I have tried creating a custom template even followed the Help. Just can not create what I want.

Magic NVENC MP4 at high quality @6Mbps with 5.1 sound. Doesn't have to be AAC as long as it plays on most recent HDTV players. No matter what I choose, 5.1 audio is not available.

Do you use the basic version of Movie Studio or Movie Studio Platinum, and which version number?

I have VMS Platinum 16

Some Nvidia cards (4xx, 5xx) do not support encoding advanced audio formats.

I have GTX1060 and I have no problem encoding H264 with 5.1 with other software. If VMS still can not do this, I'll just ask for my money back.

No response from Magix support. I need a step by step HOW TO create a custom render template. I must be doing something wrong. If you have a link to online resource, that would do.

You set the properties you want, give it a name, and save it. That's all.

If a setting is not available for a specific encoder or format, it's not available.

Finally heard back from Magix Support. There is only ONE choice: Sony AVC / Internet 1080 30p. That template allows the audio to be set at 5.1 IF THE PROJECT is set to 5.1 audio. I'll have to play around with template to see how much can be customized, but appears to do what I need.
